Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: (Discontinued by Manufacturer) (Electronics)
Bought this for my son for Christmas, and he's very happy with it appart from 1 thing - you can not use this TV to record in the UK!! We bought an external hard drive for him to record his fav programs but all he can do is pause and while this is useful it really isn't good enough that other countries using the TV can record but we in the UK can't.
Not good enough Philips - will be looking to send the TV back to Amazon. Will not buy another Philips product.

I have no way of knowing if what you say is true. And this very British idea of ''if I can't make it do what I want I'll just send it back'' is maybe one of the reasons Britain isn't doing so well in the world. Sending thinghs back just increases the costs and the prices for people who DON'T send everything back. If you read on-line reviews almost inevitably the ''it won't work'' reviewers are the ones at fault, not the product. Let's see if anyone else has this problem. I LOVE this tv!!

Totally agree.I've not seen anything in Philips' description that says the set can record to a HDD drive.Too many 1 star reviews seem to be because the reviewer hasn't read the specs and simply assumed.I'm also puzzled at the number of 1 star reviews complaining about a product and then saying "but I can't be bothered to send it back".makes me suspect that maybe the reviewer has monkeyed with it and knows the warranty has been invalidated.
Also the 1 star reviews because an item didn't work or was damaged on receipt.Send it back,Amazon are good about replacements,as it's most likely that you just got a bad example, not that the whole range is flawed.I worked for a large retailer for 10 years and know that electrical items are delicate and some do get damaged in transit, doesn't mean that the brand or retailer are bad
