This is an excellent set of extended stories that I picked up after reading Sacrifice, another impressive novella by this author.
This is a trilogy of tales very much in the "noir" thriller mould with a simple twist to them. They 're not hugely original twists (but how many truly are?) -they are however told with skill and a fair amount of panache that leave you guessing until the last couple of pages and the central one, about a farmer who picks up a weird girl hitchhiker, is particularly effective.
So great stuff and at such a ridiculous price you can't go wrong. The Island trilogy next!
