Immensely practical - but due for an update,
This review is from: Lonely Planet Guide to Travel Writing (Lonely Planet General Reference) (Paperback)
If you're interested in travel writing, this book pulls no punches. It explains how to write a travel piece, what to consider and even the best way of conducting your research. There is a huge wealth of information here. You will learn about about writing for the travel markets ... although at nearly 7 years old, this book needs updating. I don't feel the information about pitching to editors is relevant these days ... writing a letter? The practical side of pitching and being commissioned needs updating, and some of the useful information websites are no longer relevant.
So, if you're looking for advice on how to improve your travel-writing features and articles, then this is great, but just bear in mind it is a little dated. (I remember having to submit 35mm colour transparencies for illustrating my travel features!)
