Another example of bbc childhood magic confirming once again that the 1970s was the golden age of children's tv in contrast the dummed down dross that children have to endure today. This is a supernatural tale about a blind Edwardian girl and the Moon Stallion. Set on the Oxfordshire downs the story focuses around the White horse of uffington and wayland smithy. She battles with the nasty, greedy squire who is desperate to have the wild white horse and the evil groom / horse whisperer toad man who turns out to be a warlock intent on gaining the power of Wayland Smith. This series had a haunting soundtrack which I remember to this day sadly until yesterday I could never remember the name of the series, that is until yesterday, when I suddenly came across it after watching children of the stones and the witches and the grinnigog on you tube. Why the BBC only bring this out in German I am not sure but its high time for an English reprint, in the interim you can buy the German version and watch in English. Buy it and re live those childhood thrills, better still pass it on to your children.
