A blinding remix - JXL has scored with his world-cup wonder!,
This review is from: A Little Less Conversation (Audio CD)
All 3 tracks on this CD single are sublime, the radio edit, 12", and original of "A little less conversation" all shine as being fantastic.
For some people the original track is already familiar as a classic track. However, as it was recorded in 1968 it may not be familiar to all younger listeners. The grinding base and cheeky, suggestive, lyrics (which are also very apparent on the remixes) are well worth a listen in their original form.
The full 12" remix is a roller-coaster ride, it gradually builds up layers of complexity and carries you through the words and choruses, a sublime Hammond-esque sample and ends on a drum solo. Once heard never forgotten.
And finally, the single. Few tracks have had as much pre-release exposure in recent months, having featured on radio playlists the length and breadth of the country and featured in two star-studded nike adverts it would be quite difficult not to have heard this tune and found yourself caught up in it. It is punchy, fun, and very, very different from other "popular" tunes around at the moment.
This is the first single I have bought this year as I usually make myself wait for the album. Not this time. This single is a must-have.
