A 'must read',
This review is from: Sisters Against the Sea: The Remarkable Story of Hallsands (Hardcover)
Living at Strete for a number of years up until 1974, I had only a vague awareness of the history of Hallsands and Trout's Hotel.
It gave me enormous pleasure to read 'Sisters against the Sea'.
Although I delighted in all I read, at times I truly felt the depths of despair and sadness of the situation that unfolded.
No historical record I have ever read has given me such a vivid picture of how life must have been and in so many ways, hardships aside, I would have loved to be alive then; conceited perhaps, but I'm sure I would have got on well with Ella and 'Paish'!
