This series - especially the first three books - is amazing. The story set before the war in 1930's Europe is dramatic and brings the complexities of those with a conscience living at that terrible time. The books have been bought for, lent and passed around to all my friends and my mother's friends and everyone has raved about them.
The nine books are divided into three groups focussing on different characters though keepig the whole thread going; personally I preferred the first group, and my only criticism of these authors is that they often equate Muslims with Nazis which I fnd offensive and somewhat ignorant as they really mean the extremist Muslim, not all Muslims, so when the story moves to Israel, I am less comfortable with their stance that the Muslims all wanted to finish Hitler's job. Some did, it is true; but in the Koran Jews and Christians are considered sons of Abraham and brothers to Islam. As a Christian I think this is the only point that marrs otherwise stunning fiction.
