Poor script, poor acting, poor everything. Just fun for young kids.,
This review is from: Robin Hood - The Legends Returns - The Complete Series 1 - 3 [ 2006 - 2009 ] 12 DVD Box + extra's (Dutch Import) (HD DVD)
I so wanted to like this. I loved the 80's series Robin of Sherwood growing up. Compared to that this is utter nonsense. At least, if you're above 12 years old. Poorly acted, poor dialogue, annoyingly sloppy camerawork, slapsticky kung-fu fights, painfully obvious comedy and way too modern to even give off a slight feeling that this is supposed to be somewhere during Richard the Lionheart's reign. Dare I say, I even liked the Kevin Costner film better (and that's saying something). Not even Richard Armitage in black leather could save this for me (and that's saying something too. He looks decidedly bored by the whole thing by the way). Verdict: cheesier than a double cheese sandwich. Afternoon fun for pre-teen kids, but expect nothing more. Well below the usual standard of BBC productions, it looks more like some film students cobbled this together using every film cliche ever invented. Why they decided to make 3 series of this is beyond me.
This series totally missed the mark on all counts, pun intended(I'm sorry to say).
And.. who knew Robin Hood was a Jihadist/communist trained by terrorists and sent back home to upset the social order? Or that the sherrif has not even a basic sense of the workings of the feudal system?

Wish I'd noticed your review before I ordered my set! So disappointing! I can't believe this comes from BBC.

I watched it mainly because of Richard Armitage, and because I grew up in the 80's loving the Michael Praed series. But this was just so disappointing. Kids in the UK seemed to like it though.
