The album doesn't have the brilliant writing that raised Go-Go Boots to a higher level: Used To Be A Cop, Ray's Automatic Weapon and Go-Go Boots and Pulaski (by Cooley). Patterson Hood is only writing 2nd-tier songs here, nothing of the quality of those above or of When The Scenes Dies or his great grower Fourth Night of My Drinking from The Big To-Do.
The slack has been taken up by Mike Cooley, with more songs included than usual. Unfortunately, nothing is of the standard of Pulaski or Birthday Boy from the couple of albums before this one.
The album is still enjoyable though and as good as most anything else out there.
