No masterpiece, but not bad,
This review is from: Dark Void (Xbox 360) (Video Game)
(EDIT - Warning - do not buy the DLC, it doesn't work for a lot of people. A lot of people (me included) have found that the downloadable DLC is badly glitched - if you download it, it will play once, and after that be totally inaccessible, sometimes causing the whole game to crash on startup anytime you try to load it after the 1st DLC play. The only solution seems to be the uninstall the game from the hard drive and delete the DLC, then reinstall the game (or play from disk). This issue has been known about on forums for a long time, and there is no sign of an update to fix it, so I wouldn't hold your breath, looks like if you buy the DLC, you're taking a gamble on whether it'll be a total waste of your MS points or not)
This game is getting poor reviews - it was hyped-up to be something like Gears Of War with flight and vertical combat.
It's not, sadly.
But it's not a terrible game by any means. The presentation, cutscenes, writing, dialogue, and complete lack of multiplayer make it clear that the production values on this game were not those of a triple-A blockbuster title. But if you pick it up at a decent price, it's a passable little game - the combat works pretty well, but the enemies lack the variety or AI to come anywhere near a title like GOW, but the jetpack flying is a lot of fun.
I'd say this is a solid 3 star sort of game - nowhere near being a classic, but it's not a total disaster, there is enjoyment to be had hear so long as you realise this is definately not in the same league as AAA title.
I've completed the game, and am enjoying replaying it with upgraded weapons - but the campaign is short - and with no multiplayer, (and some badly glitched DLC that a lot of people can't even play), but now that the price has dropped so low, it's worth picking up at bargain price.

Mr. M. L. Hanford says:
I've only played the demo but wasn't impressed either, the flying is fun albeit the controls take some getting used to so you don't boost into everything but the on-foot bits stank of some cut price Gears of War with graphics from an Arcade game, not impressed.
