Epson Original Fox MultiPack T1285 Low Yield Ink Cartridges, Buyer Beware!!,
This review is from: Epson Original Durabrite Fox T1281 Ink Cartridge - Black (Office Product)
My new Epson S22 printer only cost a few pounds and I now know why. Epson dont put any ink in their cartridges T1281-T1284, The black has only got 5.9mls and the three colours are even worse value with only 3.5mls per colour which is written in really small writing at the bottom of the outter packaging. The printer is good value if you only printer off a few pages per week but if you are like me and need to printer off lots of college course work its a very expensive way to print.
What I now do is get British premium compatibles from a company called advantage online who stock the Epson original plus very good British compatible which hold 13ml black and 6.6ml each colour and work just the same and are half the price :)

Thank you for your most helpful feedback and thank you for highlighting the deceitful ways of Epson and for suggesting alternative cartridges. I finally understand why my black ink cartridges (T1281) were getting used up so fast despite my limited printing. They barely had ink in them. I will also try the company you
recommend to see if they work as well are the originals. I will update this review later........

Thank you so much Big G for recommending Advantage. I, too, was using Epson t1281/2/3/4 cartridges at a rate of 2 each per month, and last week I was only printing out a couple of sheets of photographs with new colour cartridges, when I got a warning that the magenta cartridge was low, so I can't believe there was even 3.5mls in it. I was reluctant to try the compatibles with Advantage, I have to admit, because when I tried compatibles on another printer before they would absolutely not work. However, these DO work, and I am delighted. The cartridges arrived the day after I placed my order with them, so I will certainly use Advantage again. Thanks again for your recommendation ..... from a delighted Senior Citizen.

But be careful if you get an update reminder from Epson because that's how they fight compatables !! Just don't update and then you'll be OK.................All the printer manufacturers rip us off with Cartridge prices !!

I had this reminder appear on screen and after 3 years using one particular brand of compatible my printer immediately stopped accepting them with an error message!!! I was trying to meet a deadline with LEGAL DOCUMENTS and am now losing my home as a consequence! No word of a lie. I had no money to buy £60 worth of Epson cartridges so in desperation ended up buying an Epson S22 Printer at just £19 (cheaper than a set of inks - crazy) simply to print what was required. Very angry I contacted Epson's Publicity dept and in a return email they 'Denied that they stopped compatibles from working!!! Appalling.
