2.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this DVD of Errol Morris, 17 Aug. 2010

Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: A Brief History of Time [DVD] (Accessory)
This is a worst title with the name of Stephen Hawking on, Errol Morris just used this great name to abuse the buyer.
I have a collection of books and DVD by Stephen Hawking or related to him, the latest good DVD I bought here from Amazon.co.uk is "Genius of Britain". This DVD by Errol Morris has more than a half of the run time filled with rubbish from people who know Stephen Hawking like his mother, sister or other neighbors. If you already read the book like me, you'll find nothing interesting in this DVD, on the other hand, if you haven't read the book, be careful : while the book "A brief History of Time" is a major science work, this DVD with the same title directed by Errol Morris is only a piece of junk.
I suggest that Amazon should add some warning in the description about this DVD which has too few thing to do with the best seller.

Morris has made an excellent documentary. I have read the book twice and yes this is different but is not a piece of junk. It gives a fascinating insight into Hawking the man. His family and friends do not talk rubbish. Perhaps Amazon should add a warning to your reviews.

Errol Morris is a gifted film maker - he doesn't make 'normal' films, he always tries to approach each subject from a different angle, it's a two way process involving the viewer - by not spelling-out things you learn more. Errol was chosen to make this film by S.Spielberg because nobody knew how to turn the book into a film so he was the obvious choice. It's actually an awesome piece of work that was filmed at a difficult time and all the people involved - Roger Penrose, Kip Thorne etc...the amazing John Wheeler - all of them are giants in their fields. My only problem with this DVD is the price.
