The film is basically about a bunch of frat boys in the early 60's, who attend Faber University and live in a fraternity. It just so happens to be the worst frat house on campus due to its reputation for loud parties and having the lowest grade averages in Faber history.
In all honesty, there really is no main lead in the film, unless you consider the Delta House itself a character but John Belushi who plays an overweight, drunken, seventh-year failure student slob named Bluto very nearly steals the show with his wacky high jinks.
Animal House ushered in a comedy revolution that can still be felt today. Animal House is arguably the most influential comedy of our time and who would have thought dead horses and toga parties could be so funny?
If this film doesn't inspire you to attend a Toga party then I don't know what will.
