Kim Richey - Wreck Your Wheels (Lojinx) Despite top 10 albums in Time Magazine, countless 5 star reviews and a couple of Grammy nods, Kim Richey's never become the household name her friends and fans expected. With hindsight, she was probably too pop for the country charts, and too country to cut it with the pop kids. If you fall between two stools in the music biz, there's rarely anyone ready with a parachute.
Richey's latest, Wreck Your Wheels, was recorded in Nashville (produced by Neilson Hubbard) and is a little rootsier than 2007's Chinese Boxes album. Although, she still has a way with a clean pop hook, and her songwriting talents remain undiminished. Standout tracks, "Leaving 49" and "Careful How You Go" would both sound perfectly at home on daytime BBC Radio 2. 8/10.
