This review is from: Traitor's Blood: Book 1 of The Civil War Chronicles (Hardcover)
There have been a number of books over past few years that have been billed as "like Sharpe" or "Cornwell-esque". Few have delivered. Traitor's Blood however, through its rough-hewn hero Stryker and bloody battle scenes, does genuinely echo the early Sharpe books in tone and structure. Prince Rupert also serves a Wellington to figure to the central character.Although akin to Sharpe The Civil War provides an original backdrop to this superior piece of adventure fiction. Loyalties are divided, treachery rife - and light is shed upon a dark chapter of our history in an accessible and enjoyable way.Highly recommended. Hope series goes from strength to strength.
