I enjoyed this but not as much as some of Chesney's other Regencies. There seemed to be less lightheartedness in this one and only one really absurd character which made me laugh. Lady Lucy due to her innocence and the social climbing of her parents has managed to marry a complete waster, albeit a titled one and Chesney really highlights the obscene wealth and self indulgence of the upper classes in Regency London. Of course these books are formulaic, but I love Marion Chesney for her wit and wry social commentary. I wish these books were still in print. As a fan I am highly prejudiced in this author's favour and I would recommend her books to anyone.
