1.0 out of 5 stars Billy Childish could do with some painting lessons, 2 Jun. 2008
This review is from: Paintings of a Backwater Visionary (Paperback)
Billy Childish could do with some painting lessons.
He so wants to be Tracey Emin it is quite sad. Not only does he copy her in 'painting' himself, but he also try's to get famous doing these poor copys of Tracey's originals.

ADAM says:
Are you secretly Tracey Emin? All 5 of your 'reviews' could be summed up by saying "Billy Childish = bad, Tracey Emin = good". You make no attempt to say why, or even question why, or even describe the product...
And i wasn't aware that Tracey Emin was the first person to paint herself, making all other Self-portraits fraudulent, or 'copycats'... poor Rembrandt.

Quite right Adam. Lots of Tracys early work was hugely influenced (slavishly copied?) from Childish. They fed off each other. Nothing wrong with that - Orton was heavily influenced by Halliwell, and all Vivienne Westwood's Seditionaries ideas were all developed while she was under McLaren's spell. Nothing wrong with that, youre allowed to be a muse then blossom and develop your own style. Its simply incorrect to state Childish wants to be Emin. Ya Buffoon!
