I bought this specifically to go paperless with Evernote, having attempted before with my "all in one" printer/scanner which gives you some document management features scan to directory etc.. it's still too cumbersome a workflow to make it usable day to day, the chore of filing was the same digitally was it was manually, for this to work it had to be as quick to scan as it is to file manually. The P-150 with Evernote helped me make this switch successfully.
The unit folds up into a neat little box, with PC on you can open it and it ready to go in under 5 seconds, scanning is very quick and double sided in one pass a real winner, auto correction for paper orientation speeds up the process. Fold the unit down and it powers off, so a whole 3 seconds to put away. Mine is attached to my PC all the time, but it's very portable, especially seeings it uses USB power no big lump of an adapter to lug around.
Software is pretty good, although for follow evernoters the software examples show Mac usage, running on a PC you first wonder if it actually works with Evernote, but a right click on the tray icon confirms it's all there. You can customise the software to do a one-touch scan and also setup additional profiles. I have a double and single sided direct to PDF profile setup making it literally one press to scan a complete doc direct into Evernote. Multiple profiles can be setup to scan direct to PDF , Jpeg etc.. You can setup to target whatever application you want but I have only used Evernote so far.
For me it has made my digitising workflow a reality, Evernote with is PDF and Picture search is the other side of the coin, and together it's a simply superb system. Bye bye box files and all my paper I really need to keep has been reduced to a single drawing in a filing cabinet.
