I missed this in the 80s, or I wouldn't have bought it now on the strength of the Amazon reviews here. The only thing to be grateful for is that I only wasted my money on Series 1 rather than going for both.
It's hard to believe that this decidedly third-rate comedy aired only 2-4 years before the infinitely superior Drop the Dead Donkey began. With the exception of the always lugubriously excellent Geoffrey Palmer and the characteristically naively confused John Gordon Sinclair the acting was as hack as the characters portrayed, as crassly way over the top as the script. I didn't laugh once through the whole thing. Maybe I just don't like badly-done slapstick.
It's also hard to believe that this came from the same pens that produced One Foot in the Grave, Love Soup, Jonathan Creek and the much under-rated Strange.

Are you Rupert Murdoch under an alias? He's the only person on Earth not likely to find this hilarious show funny.
