A basically excellent rercording needlessly spoilt
, 15 Dec. 2010
This review is from: Tenor (Audio CD)
Rolando Villazon is a very fine tenor, - no question at all, - but in this recording I was expecting a delight of classic Italian opera. Alas, nearly every other item, - I cannot call them arias, were modern works. Maria, from 'West Side Story' is a typical example which I simply cannot stand! This pattern was repeated throughout the CD. Why?
So, whilst listening, I have to get up every two or three minutes and press the 'skip' button to jump a track! It becomes very irritating and was totally unnecessary anyway!
Question? Could this 'classical/modern' selection format which I found most disruptive, have been made quite clear from the outset on the CD cover? Then I need not have purchased it! It most certainly was not 'easy' listening! Yet he remains great artist. Sad, really.
Conclusion: - Amazon needs to raise it's game!
