H. Pettifer says:
I am looking at buying one of these but I want to know if it will re-route you if you find a problem whilst driving? For example, you are following its directions and hear, say, the M4, is shut where you are due to join it...can you then tell the tom tom to recalculate the route avoiding that section of the M4? Cheers!

If you are connected to Tom Tom traffic via bluetooth and your mobile phone and it knows about the accident then it will automatically detour you round the closure and amend your route whilst you are driving - this is by far the easiest way.
If you have the Tom Tom without traffic and hear about a closure on the radio then it is possible to direct the Tom Tom to assume the road is closed for a specified interval and the divert will then be programmed into the Tom Tom. However, this is quite fiddly to be done, requires the use of advanced options and most definitely can not be done whilst driving or you will become the next accident on the M4 that people try and get around.
