Having religiously bought corsair PSUs in the past, I had some trouble with a corsair that shouldn't have happened (early fan failure) so I thought I'd give one of these a go.
Happy to say that:
- The fan is NOT audible. It really isn't. If you can hear a single thing from the fan then it's likely you're either overloading it power wise or you're not giving it enough cool air. I have a particularly "quiet" setup, my pc is (on idle at least) quieter than my nas box, so I do know what quiet means, and this is quiet.
(that said, the corsairs have always been quiet too)
- The routing of cables is excellent. Having them plugged in on demand means you can route them easier, and if you don't use one? Dont plug it in. Better airflow, less mess, better on the eyes if you happen to have a case you can see into (which I do!)
- The power usage is splendid. Hardly any wasted power, when it's on hibernate it is just that. Using less than a watt. As it should be. When it's in use it doesnt seem to be wasting any extra power, although that's just based on rough observations, as you never really know how much power all your "stuff" is using.
Would recommend it. Would also recommend corsair, but really, this is a lot cheaper, and easily as good. Will the fan break after 8 months? Well, we'll see.
