Uncomplicated, great sounding rock at it's best

I have no idea why I have taken so long to listen to a Michael Monroe album. The past 15 years or so I have read lots of his interviews and thought 'he has his head screwed on properly' but always ignored his music despite the consistently good reviews. Criminal.
This album comes kicking and swinging into the room and it is just straight ahead rock n roll. No pretence, no fancy sound and radio mix sparkles to pander to air play. Just a really tight rock band playing good songs. It has just the right amount of attitude and they take it serious enough for the conviction to come through but with masses of hooks and sing your heart out choruses that give it a real levity. Punky, poppy, rock n roll swagger that just deserves to be listened to.
There are a couple of weaker tracks they could have culled and kept it much more consistent, but that really is me searching for something negative to say. The magazine review I read said it deserves to be a classic if you'd just stump up your cash for it.
Agreed - this is an excellent album and is a real slice of 'classic rock' and I mean that in THE most complimentary way possible. I can't tell you how much I have enjoyed this album.
