Top critical review
The Five Years set at least had a really good Recall section and a very nice booklet
7 April 2017
Having been a big enough mug to buy the Five Years box set of albums I already had, (albeit at a reduced price), I eventually bought this after waiting for a similar price drop which didn't happen. My main reason was that I really wanted the remix of Station to Station that just isn't available elsewhere. (It was only previously available in the now deleted superdeluxe STS reissue.) It goes without saying I'd give five stars to this for the music but the overall feeling I get from this is just being taken for a fool. The Five Years set at least had a really good Recall section and a very nice booklet. The booklet in this does not have such interesting articles and the Recall disc is pretty medicore. (Who wants a four minute edit of Station to Station?) You get the original single mix of Rebel Rebel, you get a lovely previously unreleased version of Can You Hear Me, an inferior unreleased version of Right and the superlative Harry Maslin remix of Station to Station. Other than that it's just what you've already got, unless of course you haven't already got it in which case you'd be giving this an emphatic five star review.
