This lamp has a bad habit of not doing what you want it too. It's very sensitive and a gentle touch can turn it on or off, but also sometimes not, usually when you're actually wanting to turn it on or off.
When it works, one tap turns it to a nice, calming white, another tap makes it flash a range of colours, a third turns it off. While the defult light is really nice, the flashing lights are very offputting - I was expecting it to smoothly move from colour to colour, instead they flash at the perfect speed to make you unconfortable and feel like you're in a disco. Definetly not 'colour-breathing'. If there was an option to swap between the flashing colour and defult colour I'd be happier, or even an option to have a specific option.
It's charged by USB, which is good, except the charger port is very finkicy and you can't really tell if it's in or not. Many times I've left it overnight only to find it won't go on, and by this point I've more or less given up charging it. This isn't helped by the position of the port on the bottom (so you have to lay it on it's wobbly side to plug it in, and you can't just leave it to charge while using it) and the materials make it hard to push the USB in. I'd say the 15-hour charging time was false, but I've woken a few times with this guy on so lord knows how much battery it's wasted on while I'm asleep.
For all it's issues, it's what I expected - looks like a dumb, fun decoration that can give a bit of atmoshphere. (Note: 'decoration' not 'lamp'. I wouldn't try and read by this.) It's very satisfying to touch and always pops back into postion, I imagine it would be nice for children. For a few pounds I'd be happy, but it feels too much like a cheap japanese import to warrant the £10+ price tag.
