Started well, went downhill

I downloaded the sample, to my Kindle and enjoyed it: it was funny and light - very "Brigit Jones" - and on the strength of that, I bought it. From then on the characters didn't develop into anything meaningful: there was lots of froth, but no depth. I found myself not caring about the shallow characters and the denseness of our heroine, whom I wanted to strangle. Plot was sooo contrived: I know, I know, it's lighthearted fun, but, nope. For that kind of thing I much prefer Robin Alexander, which never sets out to be anything other than a laugh.
