I have really enjoyed this series of books. They have brought home the horrors of war to me. How on earth the troops survived four years of fighting in terrible conditions amazes me. We have much to be thankful for. They should be compulsory reading for everyone - easy to read, not too long and enough to put anyone off war. I now look forward to the final book/books as the war draws to a close.
Good to come across a writer willing to tackle WW1. Characterisation is good. Each story moves at a good pace, and the descriptions of the Western Front environment are vivid. Thoroughly enjoyable reading. Thank you.
A gripping and realistic addition to this series, all the familiar characters and always, a very skilful description of atmosphere. The author doesn't shy away from the psychological impact of combat either. Never a disappointment, I look forward to the next instalment, many thanks!
