First new studio album from the re-branded Tyla’s Dogs D’amour (You can't Blame Tyla for using the Dogs D’amour moniker sells a few more units), although Matty Casssidy, Gary Penwick played on the 20th Anniversary version of “Nocturnal Nomad”. A decent, if not outstanding album, highlights for me are the piano based melodic rocker “Movie Star”, the ballad “In Vino Veritas” & the humorous “Bottle of Red”, with the lyrics “The only thing that gets me out of bed is smile on your face & a bottle of red”. The deluxe version of “In Vino Veritas” features an entertaining bonus disc of covers.
1. Gunslinger - Mink Deville 2. Pool Hall Richard - The Faces 3. Best Friend's Girl - Cars 4. Dead Flowers - The Rolling Stones 5. Remember (Walking in the Sand) - Shagri Las 6. Summertime Blues - Eddie Cochran 7. Waterloo Sunset - The Kinks 8. Keep On Runnin' - Spencer Davis Group 9. Wild One - Thin Lizzy 10. Apartment Number Nine - Tammy Winette
I like that Tyla has mixed obscurer songs with standards (not all the tracks are rock songs), But my favorites are “Pool Hall Richard” & “Dead Flowers” by fellow brothers-in-arms The Faces & Stones & even though I said I prefer the lesser known tracks, Tyla's version“Waterloo Sunset” is also petty good as well. Like I said “In Vino Veritas” isn't too shabby, it’s just that Tyla has constantly sets himself such high water marks over his career.
