Great Soup Maker - BUT With Risks
13 April 2018
I've had this soup maker a couple of weeks now. When I researched I'd seen comments regarding how this gadget blew the electrics of some but I decided to go ahead and buy.
The thing is, its great for purpose, and makes lovely soups; but with risks; and they pertain to the design of this machine.
Electric points in the lid and the top of the maker, as well as position in the base (for main electric supply) are such vulnerable parts, open and exposed to condensation from cooking (especially as lid is removed after cooking period) and more so during washing of the soup maker.
I now have strips of tape nearby so that as soon as I remove the lid after cooking and/or wash the maker, I first place the tape over the open electric points. But this does not always seem to protect the points from exposure to drops of water.
When rinsing the main part under the tap, there is also a risk of water running down in to the main power supply connector on the base; this too I feel is too much of a risk.
I am happy with the soups I've made so far, but really, I cannot recommend this machine to others (and I so wanted to) due to such vulnerabilities and concerns about safety.
I'd like to think Morphy Richards could do something to make this great idea of a gadget safer and thereby make the cooking experience a lot more enjoyable and relaxing.
