Spent ages looking for a replacement kettle
31 October 2018
My Sage kettle finally broke after a few years (it was well used) so it was time to look at kettles. I almost went mad looking at the huge varieties and all of the reviews. It seems there were issues with taste, reliability and noise. First off, I didn't want a plastic kettle as I've previously had one or two which had taste issues so metal it was. Next, I wanted one that was reliable as I drink a lot of tea, lastly I wanted one that looked attractive.
Final choice was this Russell Hobbs kettle. A pretty kettle with a graduated dark blue (for the dark blue version) going to polished stainless steel. Looks good in our kitchen and the blue light sets it off nicely. As others have reported, the copper one would be better with an orange light but that is splitting hairs.
After a few uses, the slight metallic taste went. Amazingly quiet, easy to fill, pours well and have had no issues as yet.
