The main reason I wanted to send for and review this coat is that the product information on the Amazon page is confusing, contradictory, wrong, or absent altogether. Now I can clear up a few things for anyone thinking of buying this coat.
First of all, the sizing. I was offered a "medium" coat which, I'm sure you'll know if you have any children, is the most useless sizing you can have. I have two daughters so figured it would be close to fitting one of them. My eldest is seven-years-old and 130cm tall (she's quite tall for her age) and it is almost a perfect fit for her. The sleeves are ever so slightly long but it's certainly wearable.
The product title states that this is a boys coat (presumably because it's blue) but below that it says "girl's puffy sport jacket". Well nothing terrible happened to my daughter when she put it on and while I don't have a boy to try it, I'll assume that specific genitals aren't actually a factor to anyone wearing this coat.
"zippered hand pockets" - No it doesn't. It has two standard hand pockets. Each pocket has an elasticated adjustable string inside but I can't really work out what this is for. The removable card labels that come on the coat are all information about the warmth of the coat so they don't offer any clues. My best guess is that you can hook your keys on so they don't fall out and get lost, but the suggested zips would be an easier solution if you ask me!
The coat does appear to be very warm. Boasting "thermal reflective technology", the coat reflects back your own body heat, but allowing some to escape so you don't overheat. The coat isn't too close fitting so I can see how this would work. When my daughter tried it on she quickly complained that she was "boiling, Daddy!" but then again, we were stood in the hallway next to the radiator! The inside of the coat is shiny blue and silver and my daughter was a bit upset when I told her she couldn't wear it inside out!
The coat is resistant to light rain and dirt, so I imagine that means you should wear it in anything heavier. Also, it doesn't come with a hood so it not ideal for rainy days.
It feels like a good quality garment and looks very nice too. I assume it was designed with skiing, snowboarding, and other winter sports in mind so I think it would be perfect for that. Also it will lend itself very nicely to simply playing in the snow at winter.
A very stylish boys insulted jacket, powder lite lovely colour also. First of all I was offered boys medium but really not a clue on the sizing but now know perfect for around about 7/8 years, disappointed no proper sizing guide when ordering so the seller needs to do something about this otherwise we won't know what size to order and would be a shame for it not to sell, however when the coat arrived it does have a sizing guide attached to the zip but a bit late for that. Water resistant shell insulting outside layer and internal omni _ heat thermal lining which I'm told he's as snug as a bug( 100% polyester ). Disappointed it didn't have a hood but it does have a chin guard admittedly not everyone likes a hood and I love the elasticated cuffs for a better fit. It does have a very strong front zip but the fleeced inside pockets are not zipped as stated so wouldn't risk any valuables going in there but the pockets feel nice and warm for those tiny hands being all fleeced. Very nice stylish boys thermal lightweight jacket that's lovely and cosy without the heaviness and sweat. Inside the jacket there is attached a name and address label for safe keeping.
This is a pretty reasonable coat. Not much help with sizing so it was a bit of a punt with a medium. Didn't fit or 6 year old who is usually a size or 2 above average, but I will certainly fit him by next autumn. He loved it, but I think the flashy silvery lining may put off some fashionistas whilst attracting others. All seams and edges are neatly sewn in. The zip appears tough and the cuffs are elasticated. The 2 pockets are not zippable, so be careful what goes in them. There is no hood, so this is for a day when no rain is due. Certainly warm enough for all but the worst winter day. The material feels like it will easily tear on a sharp edge, but it should survive most child play times.
It is a good coat and it will protect your little one from cold weather (but remember a hat and gloves)
Lovely quality and a very well made jacket - it’s warm and stylish too - not always the case for clothes designed for children. Sizing is a bit of a challenge - i got a medium, which i would say would fit an overage 6 - 8 year old - give or take. It’s a bit big for my 5 year old son but not massively so.
Overall a very good jacket which looks like it should last easily to the stage it gets outgrown.
This smart blue insulated jacket is very lightweight but very warm. Ideal for Autumn and winter use. The only negative is not about the coat but the sizing for ordering. The coat we received to review was a medium and for a growing child that is too vague. I would think the medium would fit a boy about 8 or 9. They need to add a size guide to the product page but other than that a very warm coat.
