Her Final Hour … what a fab title! The second book in the Gina Harte series, Her Final Hour starts with a bang and doesn’t let up throughout. Fans of twisty, tense reads that keep you on your toes until the final ‘Wow! I didn’t see that coming!’ climax will love this book. Balancing the investigative and psychological aspects, alongside the personal perfectly, the story touches on some sensitive subjects, abusive relationships being one of them, which resonates with Gina Harte. The prologue, set in the nineties, is totally intriguing, immediately pulling the reader in to search for links to a shocking current day murder in the victim’s own home, where it would appear the perpetrator has knowledge of forensics. The nature of the crimes will inevitably impact on Gina Harte’s relationship with a fellow officer, which is already in the balance. She can’t allow it to impact on the investigation. Her Final Hour is dark, loaded with suspense, deeply affecting in places, and very cleverly written. I would definitely recommend it to all crime thriller readers.
Having read the first book in the series, I needed to see what the second instalment held. A woman has been brutally murdered in her own home. DI Harte has a few leads, but things are not quite what they seem. As the pages turn, more plot twists are thrown into the mix, muddying the waters. Suffice to say, the book was not as black and white as I'd thought.
Set in and around Warwickshire and Worcestershire, Kovach spins a gripping yarn. Women tied up, police officers attacked and more suspects becoming apparent as the pages turned, I needed to see how it all unfolded. I was not disappointed. A really enjoyable book. Bring on Her Pretty Bones!
Gina Harte returns in book 2 in what is once again a fantastic page turner psychological thriller. This book touches on some darker times including abusive relationships, the characters are fantastic and I particularly enjoy how we learn more and more about Guna’s troubled relationship with her ex Terry. I especially enjoy Gina’s fight and spirit and how she wont give up until she gets the murderer and boy did this story have some big plot twists. Can’t wait for book 3.
There is nothing to not like about this book. Gina Harte is one gutsy detective and she certainly demonstrates it in this book! The plot is dark, brutal, original and very cleverly woven together. A book that demonstrates you never know what goes on behind closed doors! I have read the rest of the series so far and they are all excellent.
I gave this book 4 stars despite describing it as mediocre as, overall, stand alone, it was an impressive read. Comparing it to the first book in the series, however, I felt somewhat disappointed. I really enjoyed the previous book and was looking forward to getting my teeth into a compelling series. I felt the whole premise a bit farfetched and got a bit lost towards the end as to who did what and what their motives were. I kind of gave up trying to comprehend and wrote it off slightly but am hopeful that the third book in the series will be better. The actual writing was good but I just found the storyline hard to follow and believe.
This was brilliant had me hooked right from the start read.it in under 1 week this should be made into a film or tv drama. Lots of unexpected twists in the story I would definitely recommend this that's why I have given it 5 stars. I haven't read the 1st book yet but I this in going to have to read it and book 3.
I liked this book, as I did the first in the series, however it was a bit far fetched. There is no way DI Harte would be at work after those attacks! But aside from it being a little far fetched, it’s a good read, the story is gripping and the recurring characters are interesting and likeable. Would recommend!
When I started this book i read the prologue and was hooked from there. It was darker than the first book straight away. So many characters to suspect all the way through. I guessed some of this book but didnt tear away from my enjoyment. I loved this installment of D.I Gina Harte, and look forward to reading the next one
had read the first and third book in this series, I never do things as I'm supposed to 😉 and like the other two, I found it just as compelling and because I shift work, it took me a bit longer to finish it, Carla is the type of author that keeps you guessing while dropping hints here and there to bring the story in a few directions while keeping the end completely unexpected. I would definitely recommend reading the Gina Harte series and will be starting the next one in the next couple of days.
