Good Lord... this album is amazing.

I've been a Suede fan right from the start... I remember eagerly awaiting their debut album as a skinny kid who loved 'The Drowners' and 'Metal Mickey'... nowadays, I'm not so skinny and a long way from being a kid so you might forgive me if I gave this album a pass from sheer nostalgia alone...
Nope. 'Dog Man Star' will always be one of my favourite albums ever, but I can honestly say that 'The Blue Hour' surpasses every one of their albums except that personal favourite... and possibly equals it. It's that good. Melodic, epic, a bit disturbing in places and absolutely heart-wrenching in others. I liked the other 'comeback albums' (lBloodsports' and 'Night Thoughts') very much, but this one really ramps it up. Life Is Golden, Flytipping, Wastelands, Cold Hands, The Invisibles... right up there with the best of Suede.
If you liked Suede back in the day but haven't bothered to investigate their new stuff, this is the album you need to buy. You won't regret it. It's a thing of true beauty and certainly the best album I've heard so far in 2018.
