Brilliantly practical and educational for all Product people (regardless of level of experience!) and others involved in building products, but especially useful for Product Managers. Learning's are available in this toolkit that you can apply straight away in your role! Can't stress how applicable this book has been to me, my team and my associates.
This is a book I will buy for all PMs I mentor and anyone I know breaking into Product Management. It is a great end to end reference guide that shares not only how Product Managers work but also why with great examples throughout. Highly recommend it for your book shelf!
it’s the kind of book I’d love to have come across a couple of years into product management myself. Although it’s short, and designed to be a fast, easy read, Marc covers a lot of ground in this book, and provides lots of useful leads for further reading in the areas that might be relevant given your specific context. Given how relatively young Product Management as a profession is, and how much the job varies from company to company, I think this is a smart move.
If you’re a senior product manager, you will likely have covered a lot of this ground already, but I learned a few things from reading it, and there a few nice names for patterns or behaviours I’m glad I have a name for now, like the 'product janitor' and so on.
As the title suggests, it is a very handy, compact toolkit for any product person out there. Marc did a terrific job of structuring the most important challenges related to product management and offering various tools and techniques to overcome them. As a product manager, I've struggled with the same things over and over again, and I'm sure my life would've been much easier back with a resource similar to this one.
As recently I've started to mentor product managers and product teams in a leadership position, I will make sure they get a copy of this book for multiple reasons. 1. It's a handy guide to get a quick answer / idea on how to tackle a problem that bump into. 2. It explains how everything in a PM's life is connected, rather than looking at one particular tool or technique and how that one should / could be used. With providing context, it also explains how every product (and product manager and product team) is different, what are the commonalities and what things you probably still need to figure out with your team 3. I'd also encourage non-product managers working in cross-functional product teams to read it, so everyone can cultivate more empathy, and get a better understanding on what product managers and teams do, why they do it and how they should do it
Marc has written the book in a format that’s extremely easy to follow and constantly giving the reader an opportunity to reflect. For the first time I feel like I truly get what product management truly is and know for sure that it’s the career I want to pursue. It’s the kind of book you’ll always find useful on your desk at work. Highly recommend!
This is a great book covering key aspects of product management. Whether you're new to the role or have been doing it for years there something in here for you. Well written in a clear and non frivolous manner, My Product Management Toolkit is a must have addition to my library, however unlike many other books, this is certainly one I shall be referring to from time to time.
