A hugely refreshing, no BS approach to achieving the things you’ve always said you want to achieve, but never got round to because [insert lame and repeated excuse here].
The fundamental insight is not in setting goals that truly resonate with your heart and soul sufficiently to motivate you in the short term, but in developing the minute, incremental, daily habits that build unstoppable momentum over extended periods of time.
As a writer myself, used to the reality that a book or article is written one word, one sentence, one paragraph at a time, day after day, then perhaps I shouldn’t be as surprised as I am to be confronted with the logic that the self-same principle should be applied to all areas of our life and work, what the Japanese call _kaizen_.
But Baker manages to refresh the concept and weave it skilfully into an approach that stresses the urgency of making your first steps right here, right now, if you are ever to unleash the genie trapped inside. Procrastination is shown to be the enemy of achieving our dreams, and can be banished by developing a love of carefully structured daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly processes that nudge us gently but inexorably towards our goals.
I ended up reading the entire book in the space of 36 hours or so, and will now read it again with notebook and pen in hand, because the exercises it contains are critical to executing the processes critical to long-term success. Ask me in 90 days how effective it’s been in changing my life for the better, as it claims to be able to do.
A cracking book and guide to life, highly recommended. As the author jokes, it really might just be the last self-help book you’ll ever need to read, and it certainly casts many over-hyped books of the genre in the shade.
This book gives you all that you need, to create a practical plan, and follow through with day to day action, that will put you on a path of real change for the better. In just 90 days, you could be enjoying 100% improvement in any area of your life. Then again...and again...and again...
You could spend years figuring it out for yourself, or find all you need in this book, right now. Everything here has been tested and proven by the author in his own life, and in the lives of the many he has coached over many years. It's working for me, too!
I have always looked for self improvement books and am a firm believer in investing time & money in my personal & business development. Most books are worth reading and few in my experience are utterly worthless, but The 1% Rule got me excited and motivated like no other! If you immerse yourself in it and actually do the work I truly believe it can change your life. More than one person has noticed a difference in me and I'm only just started with the work. There's a lot of simple sounding stuff but it's surprising how effective it is if you're prepared to put the work in and actually do it! Amazing book.
This is great and i have read quite a few in this genre its main ethos is to do things that make steps to your goal EVERYDAY , NO MATTER WHAT. The author articulates his points well and gives many other wise intresting points and methods genuienly that work, i speak from personal experience, Overall Great book if used correctly will improve your life.
This book is a bit repetitive but you can draw out the nuggets and apply them. I was disappointed that I couldn't access the online resources referenced in the book. Still worth a look if you need help moving forward.
