Not Suitable for a Hot Climate
1 September 2018
I bought this unit for my apartment in Spain and it was clear at once that it could not cope with the ambient temperature which was about 30 degrees. The heat exchanger seems to be quite inefficient because it took 90 minutes for the light to go from red to blue, after which I could pour one good sized glass of water. The capacity of the glass was about 35 cl and the second glass was tepid, but probably contained a percentage of chilled water so to be generous I probably got about 50 cl. It took another ninety minutes to be ready to serve another glass. I spent an evening repeating the experiment with a growing sense of incredulity. What is worse is that the whole time the unit was producing a constant stream of hot air (which comes out of the left hand side of the unit as you look at it, so if you are going to install it at your work station it would be best if you can place it somewhere to your left).
Having read the other comments which prompted me to buy it in the first place it is obvious that the unit does do passable service in a cool environment such as an air-conditioned office but it is definitely not suitable for home use in somewhere like Spain, or the UK in a heatwave for that matter.
