To be seen and NOT to see
20 November 2018
For me these are no good as I ride along country roads with no lighting and which have twigs, potholes, and clumps of wet leaves/mud etc that should be avoided on C700 road tyres. These simply lack the brightness on full power to light up the road – they are only just more powerful than my phone light; point the beam more than 6 to 8 feet in front of you and the detail is lost due to the lack of power (half what it needs to be) but also the cheap blueish light (rather than a crisp cool white). Only being able to see at 6 - 8 feet means you have to significantly curb your speed to give yourself chance to react to something in your path. Therefore I would avoid if you like to see where you are going.
However, if you plan only to ride in lit areas such as city centres or well-lit suburbs these are excellent little lights especially for the price:
· secure fixing taking seconds to mount/unmount;
· rechargeable via USB;
· good battery life;
· compact and light enough to fit in your pocket;
· useful clip on the lights gives potential to be attached to clothes and used for walking etc.
