What an Amazing book! I have looked at this on my favorites list since it was published and always passed it by for another book to read. How glad I am that I bought it in the end. It's one of the best books I have read and just didn't want it to end. It's funny, heart warming but also sad in places especially when Gloria describes her daughters death, how I wept. I honestly never had any idea she was so talented, wow, that was so interesting to read about. Her love and devotion to her family shines through, it's obvious she adores her home life and spending time with her family. If she wrote a novel, it would be sure to be a best seller, she has the perfect knack of describing situations in detail. I have no hesitation in recommending this book, a fabulous read. Thank you Gloria .
Enjoyed the book overall, though I preferred her earlier book about her daughter Caron 'Next to you' which I have re-read many times now. For me personally there was so much detail about all the famous people she knew and I wasn't nearly as interested in that as in the parts about family life. I accept that Gloria's job is very much a part of her life so it was necessary to include a fair amount about it, but felt it was a bit unbalanced in favour of her presenting work. I would have preferred more about her family life in addition to the job related stuff, especially as she's very family oriented. Most of what she wrote about Caron, for example, I'd already read in her earlier book so nothing was new in this respect. I liked reading this though and would recommend.
Growing up in a difficult period in Ireland Gloria never thought that she would eventually interview very famous stars, ie Doris Day to name only one, but many many more. Sad at the end of my Kindle as daughter Caron had a terrible but positive struggle with Ca. The best book I have read in a long time, couldn't put it down and as I only read in bed I had many very late nights !!
This was such an enjoyable book - I read it in one day on holidays. Gloria writes with such emotion and compassion about her daughter and family life - every book she has written had brought tears to my eyes. Her daughter would be so proud.
