Excellent group card game, it was really fun to live out our dreams of being a 90s rock band going through tours and personal riffs, building up our fans and collecting special skills. The artwork is gorgeous and full of little references for all the music geeks out there. The patches and T-shirt that forms the game board are wonderful and really stylish, they might even have to be borrowed for a cool party. This set came with 2 card expansions included, which we have yet to fully explore, but I see how this could easily lend itself to further expansion sets. All in all a great time and a definite keeper on our group game shelf.
I played this game with 3 friends, one of whom is very much into board games, but the other two aren't very much. The game is easy enough to pick up post dinner, and the tshirt, badges and cards are all very fitting with the brand. The cards especially are very funny, and the 8 bit art work is very cool.
The whole game is about forming bands, and putting together tours. You start out a bit rubbish, but over time you become more successful, and the fans flock to you.
The game play is quite smooth, and it was hilarious to see different alliances between players form and break off again. We played with a bonus rule that every band that performed had to make up their band name, and the title of their hit single. While not at all necessary, I would thoroughly recommend this rule.
I will definitely play this game again, and would recommend it.
Original concept, cool art and cleverly designed game components. The game mechanics are challenging without having unnecessarily complicated rules - mixing negotiation, role play, collaborative puzzle and strategy. It’s going to be a classic!
It seems complicated, but after just one round you will see that it is anything but. But that does not mean it is void of strategy. Indeed, sometimes the entire game can rest on one bad decision, so one learns to think very carefully about their turn. Our most recent game session started with everyone getting into their fictional band, naming them, describing the gigs that were happening in the game as the random cards described (inspired by a terminal illness, you form a band and get hype for your gig by making a sex tape -NSFW expansion-. The gig is disco music on a kazoo, with a huge robot dinosaur on stage), but after just a few games, all fictional pretense went out the window and we were all just playing to win and being super competitive. The game allows both styles of play, and both are equally satisfying. When playing with 3 people, game length was very short, between 20-30 mins. But its hard to say for sure because we were all having so much fun the hours flew by.
Before Instagram, being a music star (be it pop, rock or something else). This game catches that vibe quite nicely. The game is well executed and thought through, which reflects in its gameplay. It doesn't take too long to play like Risk can, however it is best with four players rather than two.
The game focuses on the traditional music industry challenges of getting a band together; getting gigs and touring. If you like board games well worth a play.
Superb, different, fun game! The board is a t-shirt, the gameplay fast and engaging, the playing pieces are badges you will want to put on - we had a blast playing this game. The game has clearly been designed with joy in mind and you'll find yourself laughing as you negotiate your payback for contributing to a tour, deciding whether to go it alone, stay home and practice or create a mega tour.
