Sound Quality Excellent BUT Picture Quality Poor
14 March 2019
I have had the Vlio 1080P SCART to HDMI Upscaler Converter for a few days now. I bought it to see IF I could watch some nostalgic VHS Videos (The Lion King, Pollyanna that I was offered ) using the VHS Video Cassette Recorder (Yes, they may be ancient but I was INTRIGUED!) that WERE ALSO offered to me FREE of Charge.
The SCART to HDMI Upscaler, I’ve just found out is WHAT you need IF you have a HDMI enabled TV with NO SCART connections and you want to connect a SCART-enabled source eg a VIDEO RECORDER (analogue signals) to a HDMI TV (digital signals).
You don’t need a power source for the SCART to HDMI Upscaler Converter IF you have a USB connection on your HDMI-enabled TV like I do.
I looked at and STUDIED carefully the instructions that came with the SCART to HDMI Upscaler Converter, and was able to connect the Video Recorder to the HDMI TV. The quality of the sound output coming out through our 42inch (107cm diagonally across) HDMI LG TV Speakers was EXCELLENT. However the picture was very poor, with the image moving from side to side, although the picture was in colour.
For the reason above, I shall give it a RATING of Three Stars, and I really believe that IF you want a much better Picture Quality and you have a very old VHS Recorder as well as some nostalgic videos, your best bet is to buy a much smaller LCD TV e.g. a 27inch (69cm) HDMI-enabled TV (such as a LG TV one) that comes with a SCART Connection and a couple of HDMI Connections as Standard.
I hope you’ve found my REVIEW Helpful.
And thanks for reading.
