Did everything I expected.
16 August 2016
By the time i had finished packing it, for 2 weeks holiday, it weighted about 16 kilos. I was able to put a spare pare of shoes in the the end compartment, (which also contains a mesh pocket). The mesh compartment under the lid can take soft items that will be able to form part of the barrel shape.
The advantage is that there are several methods of carrying, using the straps and the handles. Its not going to be as comfortable as a rucksack, but the shoulder straps help a lot when your rushing from station to station, or airport to train etc. You can also heave the thing up onto your shoulders, and it felt quite comfortable there for a while.
16 Kilos is as bout as much as I want to carry for short distances so my feeling is that the bigger ones would encourage you to put too much in them and make it difficult to carry around. However, I was also able to carry my hiking bag at the same time, using a shoulder strap for each bag. This was pretty useful for distances of no longer than a mile in my view.
The plastic is strong and the yellow colour really easy to spot on the carousel. The main zip is covered slightly by the main lid, it slightly overlaps it, so would offer some water protection, although I tend to put anything I really dont want to get wet in polythene bags.
Slight disadvantage, that despite careful packing your clothes do tend to crease. Obviously it has no wheels, so your only other option would be to drag it, which the thick plastic would take. As its a soft bag its best to protect anything breakable for travelling.
5 stars, its a great looking bag and did everything I expected.
