I was eagerly anticipating the release of this novel and it didn't disappoint. The set up of her books is perfect. The romance storyline weaves in with the action and furthering of the overarching VC plot.
I think Katrina might be one of my favourite ladies (I probably say the same about each of them after each book!). She is trying to fit in with the all male trainees but she lacks the skills they seem to be developing. She is staying at the compound which also singles her out for the taunts of her classmates. Whereas Jill learnt to be feisty and aggressive with bullies, Katrina's shyness makes her wilt under their words. However the mysterious and gruff Blaze soon becomes her reluctant protector. He tries to keep his distance but finds it harder to stay aloof.
But soon Katrina's past catches up with her and it might just jeopardise her relationship with Blaze and her place with the warriors. Can she keep their trust when her secrets are revealed?
This is one of the few series that gets better as it develops. I often find I love the first 2-3 books but they become repetitive or veer off in an odd direction. Not this series! I can't wait to read the next one.
