Fun but online multiplayer is disappointing
27 July 2018
The game is great fun but it has its shortcomings.
The single player portion will probably last you around ten hours. I completely lost track myself, but only a few of the 200cc ghosts posed much of a challenge. The rest is fairly easy without much need for retrying. Once you've done the single player stuff, that's it. You've done it.
The multiplayer part of the game is where it should really shine, but unfortunately it doesn't. Wait times between races online are about a minute in length due to all the unnecessary animations going on and how long people have to choose the next track, and with each race being so short the wait times quickly add up. Unfortunately I can't overlook this as it gets to the point of ruining the online multiplayer. Local splitscreen is what it is - good as usual (as long as your friends have their own controllers, as a single Joy-Con is simply too small).
Due to all of this, I only played the game for a week. I enjoyed it but expected more hours out of it.
