Not for me.
5 October 2018
I am aware that my review is at odds with a number of others and I am a little surprised to find myself being so negative about this author as I have enjoyed the Roy Grace series considerably. It maybe that I am far too much of a non-believer to manage this one!
I gave it up after ploughing through the first nine chapters: the writing was clunky with too many cliched descriptions and the plot line required so much suspension of disbelief that it became fantasy land and I do not read fantasy novels. As I also disliked the pretentious Da Vinci Code, I can only say I wish I’d seen the reviews likening the two books before I purchased this; I would have avoided it. I pre-ordered on the strength of the Grace series, my mistake.
On reflection, some of the dialogue in the Grace books is also clunky but I overlook that in pursuit of the plot line and character development; this time it was far too evident and spoilt my focus.
Not one for me but perhaps those who have a religious belief will find it of interest.
