The best Philip Glass opera at last
on 7 October 2016
The best Philip Glass opera at last, following the 2012 world tour. It may be four and a half hours but it's still difficult to take your eyes off it with the quality of the filming, and the time passes quickly. There are no special features but it's a nicely laid out box set with a book section in the middle.
You'll probably know roughly what to expect from Philip Glass/Robert Wilson before you buy, otherwise the whole thing could be a mystery to you.
The thing that made the opera what it is, is really the music by Philip Glass. It's been referred to as the greatest artwork of the 20th century, althought I've never seen it written except in the publicity. It's certainly worth dipping into the greatest artwork of the 20th century.
