Top critical review
Blyton for adults.
27 August 2017
I'm being generous with 2 stars but hope by giving it more than one people will take my review seriously.
If you liked Enid Blyton as a child with her overuse of clichés, adjectives and moral undertones then you will most probably enjoy this as an adult. If you don't care about historical accuracy and wooden characters and enjoy Mills and Boon then this is perhaps for you.
It certainly wasn't my "cup of tea old chap" (to coin the author's vernacular).
If you want a real war story, written with passion and accuracy then read "Carve her Name with Pride".
