Superb alternative to more expensive brands. Brilliant.
on 8 October 2016
I've worn jawbone trackers for the past 3 years, the UP, the UP24 and lately the the Up2....
I've had 9 over that period, some lost due to rubbish clasps, some broken and some damaged when they got wet as u forgot to remove them when swimming. Some were replaced by Jawbone but the latest one, an Up2, only lasted 6 weeks before the strap broke and jawbone have refused the warranty claim as it was sold to me by a non authorised dealer.... So buyer beware.... I stayed loyal only because of the app and all the data I had.... But no more.
So to try a new brand, never really liked fitbit and I know a few friends who have lost them and although tempted by an andriod or pebble 2 smart watch I rather like my normal watch.
I got my son an original miband earlier in the to year and its been no bother at all, battery life excellent and tracks well, so I decided that the miband 2 was worth a go, and I wanted heart rate monitoring and I wanted something that if lost I could replace without losing sleep...
So I installed the app from the play store and linked the app with Google fit, and paired the band all very straightforward and no problems.
So far so good, I've got it set to show the time when I tilt my wrist and a quick press reveals steps and another press makes it check your pulse.
Seriously, the amount of options, and the tech packed into this little thing for the price makes this a brilliant purchase.
Really like the display, the band can be set to buzz for notifications and calls.
I've also had my up band on my wrist (held together by tape) next to the mi band and the step count is as near as needs be the same.
I also purchased a second spare band with it (a grey one) , again the cost was peanuts and there are loads of colours available.
I really can't fault this at all.
UPDATE - I have since been to the gym and following a run on a the treadmill the gym equipment recorded my heart beat at 154 per minute and the miband recorded 150. So pretty good to be honest.
UPDATE 2 - after 3 days of wearing both the miband and the up2 the difference in steps was around 350-400 (over 10,000) - with the jawbone reading higher. I think this is partly due to the miband only counting after 10 steps to avoid false readings so its probably spot on to be honest (and the upside is that I will now have to do maybe 5% more than I did before to hit my goals). The jawbone has now been placed in the bin.
UPDATE 3 - Have added a screenshot to show battery life, I've now charged it twice, once when I got it and then a week or 2 later. The second charge has lasted 15 days so far with 17% left so should last at least 20 days in total. That's the best I've ever experienced with a tracker and especially so as this has a screen and can operate as a watch. Really can't fault this at all. Still think it under reads compared to the UP but that's fine as it's very consistent and that's what I want. Sleep tracking is OK as well.
Its now 9 months since I first put it on and it's still working really well. Have tried a few different straps but am back on the orginal black one again now. Superb bit of kit and I still get 20 days use from a single charge.
