Iffy start but good second half
29 June 2018
I have mixed feelings towards this book. To start with it was only on my kindle because my baby kicked my iPad screen as I was browsing books on the website and she kicked the one click buy. It cost me £2.49 less than a week ago and I’ve just spotted that it’s free with prime reading so that’s annoying.
Laura was a good lead character but sometimes acted quite strangely. The first time she met Carly her behaviour was very odd, she didn’t even give Carly a chance to explain why she was there before hating her. Little things like that made the first half of the book a bit unrealistic for me. By the time I was half way through the book I did understand why Laura felt the way she did and I really began to enjoy the story. Tom was a great and real character. Totally oblivious to what his wife was thinking and almost innocently carrying on with his life whilst Laura was in emotional turmoil.
The one character I couldn’t like at all was Jerry. What a vile individual. The poor author chose Harvey Weinstein to be the person Jerry looked up to, what a bad choice. When reading I got the impression that he was supposed to be a bit funny but he was a horrible man, yuk.
The ending was really good and did make up for a bit of a messy start.
