A very good game, but maybe not the 'stealth' game I'd initially hoped for.

Arrived on time, undamaged.
I'd bought and played Prey on release, then traded it in toward a different game ..... now, time has passed, the price has dropped and I've bought it again. I tend to do that, if I decide I really liked a game first time around.
I like open games such as Skyrim, MGS V, Dragon Age, Dishonoured etc that have story and offer you multiple paths to work your way through it. I'd just finished Dishonoured 2 in 'ghost' mode - ie. very stealthy - before I moved onto Prey.
With Prey having the same 'look and feel' and coming from the same company as Dishonoured 2 I'd hoped to be able to play Prey equally stealthy - but after completing it, I'm not sure Prey works like that. Prey certainly has the stealthy game mechanics of open levels, patroling enemies, multiple paths, hiding, enemy awareness, silenced weapons etc - but it was really really hard work to play stealthy, especially on the later stages ...... and I'm fairly sure there are parts you simply can't be stealthy because there is no stealthy path and/or the stealth weapons seem so underpowered. So this time around I may go for the 'blast everything' approach.
The ending also felt a bit abrupt to me.
That said, Prey may not be a 'Dishonoured 2' level classic, but its still easily one of my top 5 games of 2017.
