Fire in the bowl
1 November 2017
Sometimes I buy stuff from Amazon that seems too cheap to be true, this fire bowl is one of them, for the price I paid it’s spot one, being an engineer and having drilled a drain hole in the bottom of the bowl, I can confirm that it is made from something close to cast iron, although it can’t be a true cast iron, maybe steel with a very high carbon content, the bowl it’s self is too thin and strong to be a true cast iron but either way you will get covered in carbon when you handle it, the plus side however is it does rust as much as mild steel would, as for being a big bowl you can light fire in, it is about as good as you can, I have burnt all sorts in it without any issues, it’s a metal bowl with a raging fire in it, so obviously it gets very hot, the height off the floor is just about right, wood stacked correctly will burn down to almost nothing, the only thing I have done as stated is drill a half inch drain \ air hole in the bottom.
It’s a bowl you can light fires in, for the price it’s fantastic, not too big, not too small, perfect for logs and fire wood, maybe even a small bonfire
